Description

Watery faeces can be a big problem for horses. Unfortunately, there are many causes for watery faeces, including bacterial and viral pathogens, untreated infections from intestinal parasites, as well as jaw and tooth problems. Factors like social status, stress management and psychological stress are also triggers. Allergies (e.g. feed allergies) could also cause watery stool.

Horses can be sensitive to the switch from pasture grazing to hay feed in the autumn or winter. They can also be sensitive to changes to their concentrated feed. Their feed or straw could also be contaminated by harmful bacteria or fungi that come from fermentation due to incorrect feed storage. Bacteria and fungi produce toxic metabolic products (e.g. mycotoxins, biogenic amines). These toxins are extremely stressful to the liver and can lead to digestive issues. It is best to consult your vet regarding feed in these situations.

The Gut Bars were made with digestive issues in mind and contain naturally soothing herbs.

Plant-based bioactive substances
The Robusan Gut Bar was made based on 30 years of experience using healthy herbs and spices. Numerous scientific studies were consulted as the recipe was created. The interaction of more than 100 bioactive components promotes healthy intestinal flora and stimulates digestion and the metabolism. Carefully selected herbs and spices contribute to relieving upset stomachs, diarrhoea and indigestion and could also help with nervousness. The tannins contained in the herbs and spices "impregnate" the intestinal mucosa, making it more difficult for pathogenic germs to stick to it. These bars offer a holistic approach to gut health.

Herbs and spices
The beneficial effects of herbs and spices have been known since ancient times. The variety of bioactive ingredients (plant secondary metabolites) promotes health for people and animals. In addition, herbal secondary metabolites stimulate the body to fight parasites and support, regenerate and care for the immune system, detoxification organs and the intestinal flora after a conventional worming treatment.

Nature's treasure chest
Herbs and plants with a high proportion of tannins and bitter substances offer gentle support for the digestive system. The herbs used include caraway and fennel. These herbs contain phytochemicals that relax the intestinal muscles and have anti-inflammatory properties. They also stimulate saliva and digestive juice secretion and support the metabolism of food. Galangal is also valued for its stomach-strengthening, digestive stimulating and antispasmodic effects. In the right dosage, oak bark is also useful for causes of acute diarrhea.

Terpenes are responsible for the soothing and relaxing smell of moss, resin and conifers. These secondary ingredients provide the diverse tastes and fragrances. There are 8,000 different terpenes known to man, each with a variety of beneficial properties. Pinene is said to alleviate muscle cramps and reduce a feeling of fullness, fenchone promotes gastrointestinal peristalsis and myristicin encourages digestion and is antispasmodic.

In addition to their function as a flower pigment, flavonoids also support plant defences (against parasites, pathogens). A large number of the known flavonoids (~ 8000) are said to have antioxidant, blood circulatory and anti-inflammatory effects. Flavonoids could also have vitalising and mood-enhancing properties and have a relaxing effect on complaints of the gastrointestinal tract. The extensive range of supporting herbs and plants in the Robusan intestinal bar includes several hundred individual substances.
