Description

Fertilising horse pastures often takes a back seat in the minds of horse owners and farmers. However, regular fertilising can contribute to maintaining the pasture and a good sward and, on top of that, enhance it with important minerals and vitamins.

The focus should always be on the horses' needs, which is why the right fertiliser must be used. With its FieldCare, Pavo has developed an artificial fertiliser that is specifically geared to the nutrient requirements of the horse and completely avoids the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). FieldCare is based on ENTEC nitrogen.

Interesting facts about ENTEC nitrogen:

The so-called ENTEC nitrogen enables nitrogen compounds to be released slowly over a period of 2-3 months. This has the advantage that the protein content in the grass, which is undesirable for horses, is not released within one day as is usually the case. Developed by BASF.

  • The grass grows well, but the protein content of the grass remains low
  • The ENTEC nitrogen is less flushed out due to the special nitrogen compound
  • Favours the environment
  • A smaller amount of artificial fertiliser is required

Application and fertiliser recommendation:

It is recommended to take a soil sample before fertilising the soil. An exact analysis of the sample allows the nutrient content of the soil to be determined and then a precise fertilisation plan to be drawn up.

Recommendation:

  • With manure (cattle) in spring: 200-250 kg/ha.
  • Without slurry manure (cattle) in spring: 300-400 kg/ha
  • Further information on the fertilisation process:

After fertilising, the paddock should remain unused for 14 days. After the specified period, the horses can be allowed back into the pasture, even if there are still remains of the fertiliser to be seen. However, it should definitely have rained once after fertilising.
