The active ingredient L-carnitine is a vital, vitamin-amino acid-like substance, which has a very important key position in the release of energy and the burning of carbohydrates and fatty acids in the horse's body. L-carnitine transports the long-chain fatty acids into the muscle cells, which rely on this fuel in order to achieve optimal performance. L-carnitine occurs in small amounts in all muscle cells of the horse and is used there to a greater or lesser extent depending on the workload (training/competition).

Through intensive training or during the tournament, the muscle can usually no longer be supplied with enough L-carnitine. The result is a constant lack of carnitine, which means that the horse's organism loses its ability to burn fat reserves.
